It’s been awhile for the #POTD posts, right? Sorry about that.
In lieu of this warm weather we’ve been having I’ve declared today’s Photographer of the Day to be Aaron Chang. Aaron is a professional photographer who has turned his passion of surfing into his photographic specialty. What I admire most about Aaron is that he is able to incorporate all of his passions into one artform, and this has allowed him to create some really amazing images in his portfolio.
Aaron is quoted in his bio and he says, “My hope would be that my photographs cause the viewer to appreciate the beauty of the world that surrounds them and the simple joy of being alive.” That’s just beautiful. I personally believe that it is a photographer’s job to share the beauty surrounding him/her in daily life whether he/she lives in California, Tokyo, London, New Delhi, Brazil, wherever…and this beauty can be photographed in many ways: through the people that live in these places, the scenic views, really anything the photographer finds beautiful. It’s our job as photographers to share what we see with the world, and I think that’s just what Aaron Chang has done with his photography.
In a world of instant communication it’s not hard to share what you find to be beautiful about the world. This is a challenge to all of my fellow photographers: figure out what you are passionate about, or what you find beautiful and see if you can create a career path out of that. If not a career path, at least challenge yourself to photograph more of what you find beautiful and share those photographs with your friends, family, and the rest of the world. Why not?
In ending this post today, I’m going to leave you with my favorite image from Aaron Chang’s portfolio: Brad Duckdive Black and White.
Alright a local Encinitas guy! Love his work. If you are interested in surf pics then here is our latest from Pipeline! http://www.photobotos.com/blue-hawaii-pipeline/
